Arts writing & reporting
About the arts writing and reporting internship
The arts writing and reporting internship is meant for students interested in working for the Daily Bruin's arts and entertainment section and blog. The arts & entertainment section covers on- and off-campus developments in music, film, art, theater, dance and culture. This includes event previews, features on UCLA students, faculty and alumni making their mark in the industry and reviews of albums, movies and plays. Spotlight, the arts & entertainment blog, will cover these same beats while also focusing on more informal content, such as Q&A's with members of the entertainment world.
Any student who applies to work for the Daily Bruin is applying for an internship. Not all applicants will be accepted. Those who are accepted are guaranteed an internship position at the Daily Bruin on the condition that they complete a series of training workshops. Training workshops are mandatory.
Deadlines and selection
The application deadline for winter quarter has passed. A&E will recruit again fall quarter. If you'd like to apply, applications will be posted here in the first few weeks of fall quarter.

An important note on the workshops
The training workshops are led by a professional journalist and will give you basic theoretical and practical training.
Please note: All interns must attend a set of mandatory workshops. No exceptions will be made. If you cannot attend a workshop or multiple workshops, your internship will be discontinued and you will have to reapply. If you need clarification, please see the media adviser, Amy Emmert. Questions about workshop attendance must be directed to Amy.
After the workshops
Once you've completed the workshops, you will start working at the Daily Bruin as an intern. In time you could become a paid staffer.
